The Walking Dead season three premiered earlier this week and while many at AMC were slightly concerned how the loss of DISH Network would affect their ratings. However, The Walking Dead season three surprised everyone and smashed the ratings record.

It is reported that The Walking Dead season three premiere hit an average of 10.9 million viewers, with an incredible 5.8 million adults 18-49 rating. Those figures make The Walking Dead season three premiere basic-cable history’s biggest ever drama series telecast.
AMC President Charlie Collier was so impressed by the figures and proud of what a success The Walking Dead has become that he wanted to make his gratitude known. He thanked the fans of the zombie television series for their continued support and praised everybody involved in making the show.

He said, “Thank you to the fans for making The Walking Dead such a tremendous success. We are honored and humbled that television's largest adult audience resides on AMC. So many people on both sides of the camera worked tirelessly on this project, and I thank and congratulate each of them for their amazing contribution.”
